How a price becomes a payout
Three services, one tick
The engine that generates prices, the engine that settles trades and the gateway that streams them to you are separate programs. None of them can be influenced by the page you are looking at.
01 · GENERATE
The price engine ticks
Geometric Brownian motion with mean reversion and regime switching, seeded from the operating system’s entropy pool. It emits a tick every second or two depending on the index, and it does not know what anybody has traded.
02 · STREAM
The gateway broadcasts
Every tick goes onto an event stream and out over websockets to every open terminal at once, and into the archive at the same moment. The chart you watch and the price you settle against are the same number.
03 · SETTLE
The trade engine decides
Contracts settle against the archived tick at the recorded sequence number, in an append-only ledger. A trade can be replayed afterwards tick by tick, which is how you check our arithmetic rather than take it on trust.
